1st Version: Mexican Army Takes Control - 1955 - Del Rio, TX.

In 1955, USAF Colonel Robert B. Willingham, says he chased a UFO across West Texas in his jet fighter, and saw the object crash along the Rio Grande River near Del Rio, TX.

The Del Rio, Texas UFO Crash is a 1955 UFO case reported by a former jet pilot in the USAF Reserve, Robert Burton Willingham, who lives near Wichita Falls, TX.

While flying a North American Aviation F-86 Sabre jet on a bomber escort mission over West Texas, Willingham observed a large, highly luminous orb moving toward him from the northwest at about 2,000 miles per hour.

At one point, he saw it execute a sudden 90° turn without slowing.

As the object moved past his aircraft, Willingham gave chase and later saw it fall to the ground and crash near Del Rio, TX.

After switching planes, Willingham returned to the crash site later in the day and was confronted by Mexican soldiers who were guarding the wreckage while waiting for the arrival of the USAF.

Before being forced to leave, Willingham observed the crashed object at close range and also took a metallic UFO fragment with him.

Although not as well known as the Roswell UFO Incident, this case has appeared in numerous UFO books and journals.

It also shares some similarities with the Coyame UFO Incident of 1974, which reportedly also occurred along the Texas/Mexico border and involved both the U.S. and Mexican militaries.

We heard on the radio that an object had been picked up by radar somewhere in the northwest.

It was spotted by the DEW, Distant Early Warning Line radar system, in Canada.

They said it was going very fast and was moving our way, Willingham stated during a 2008 interview with UFO researchers Noe Torres & Ruben Uriarte.

During his initial sighting, Willingham and his fellow aviators were warned of the fast moving object heading their way, saw it zoom past them at a speed of about 2,000 mph, and then observed a maneuver that seemed to rule out conventional aircraft.

It made a 90° turn to the right, still going 2,000 mph.

At that point, I knew this was not any aircraft that we had, or that anyone on Earth had, Willingham said.

Later, after the object crashed into the sandy soil just South of the Rio Grande River near Langtry, TX and broke up into several pieces, Willingham got a much better chance to observe it close up.

He later described it as a flat saucer shaped object about 20' to 25' in diameter, with a dome shaped section on top, measuring about 10' to 15' in diameter.

The skin of the object was metallic silver and the chunks of metallic debris he later examined at the crash site, suggested to Willingham that the object was not of Earthly manufacture.

2nd Version: Mexican Army Takes Control - 1955 - Del Rio, TX

This is a shocking eyewitness testimony from a retired U.S. Air Force colonel and former fighter jet pilot who says that he chased a UFO across West Texas and watched it crash along the Rio Grande River near Del Rio, TX.

Robert Willingham was flying an F-86 fighter jet across West Texas when he saw an object, as bright as a star, streak past him and then execute a 90° turn going 2,000 miles per hour.

Giving chase in his jet, the decorated World War II and Korean War veteran watched in awe as the object plummeted to Earth near Del Rio, TX.

Soon after, he visited the crash site and saw a large, silver disk, sticking into the side of a hill.

Nothing could have prepared him for what happened next, as his life was about to change forever.

Rarely do you have such a highly credible eyewitness to an event of this magnitude come forward with information that is guarded so closely by various intelligence agencies.

Willingham, who lives near Wichita Falls, was one of America's earliest jet aviators, during the time when the military was transitioning away from propeller driven planes.

It was also a time when UFO sightings had become commonplace throughout the United States, especially in and around top secret military bases.

He was flying as part of a group of F-86 fighter jets that were escorting a B-47 bomber across West Texas, said Noe Torres, a lecturer, researcher, and member of the MUFON chapter in Texas.

It was a Cold War simulation designed to follow the route that bombers would take to reach Russia in the event of a nuclear war.

A radio message warned Willingham and the others about a fast moving UFO that was approaching Texas from the northwestern U.S.

Then it came into their view, looking like an intensely bright light, like a bright star seen through a telescope, Torres said.

It blazed across the sky past them, and everyone in all the planes saw it.

But, because of the location of Willingham's jet, he was in the best position to see what happened after the object flew by.

Willingham estimated that the object was traveling at 2,000 miles per hour, and he saw it make an instant 90° turn, without slowing down.

As the UFO streaked toward the Texas/Mexico border, Willingham received permission to break from the formation and pursue the object in his F-86 fighter.

Following the object's vapor trail, Willingham followed it down to near Del Rio, TX where he saw it begin to wobble and descend rapidly.

As the pilot watched in stunned silence, the UFO plunged toward the Rio Grande River, plowing into the ground just South of Langtry, TX and digging out a 1,000' long furrow before finally coming to rest alongside a sandy hill.

Uriarte said, Willingham had heard a lot of discussion about UFOs, and now he had one down on the ground.

As he flew over the awesome scene, he decided that he was going to switch planes and return there as quickly as possibly to look at the thing up close.

The aviator returned to the scene of the crash a few hours later, according to Uriarte.

They landed the small plane right alongside the crashed UFO and noticed that a large number of Mexican soldiers had already taken control of the crash site.

They had cordoned off the area and would not allow Willingham or Perkins to approach the main part of the wreckage.

However, what they were able to see and look at was so amazing that it forever changed their lives.

Before being forced to leave the area by the Mexican military, Willingham picked up a chunk of strange metal debris that was about the size of a man's hand.

He later tried to burn it, cut it, and otherwise deform it, but he was not able to.

It was a piece of something not of this world, Uriarte said.

Torres & Uriarte are active members of the UFO research community with many years of experience investigating UFO cases in the Southwestern U.S. and Northern Mexico.

Their research has appeared on TV shows.

Their first book, Mexico's Roswell: The Chihuahua UFO Crash, published in 2007, received wide critical acclaim and was the basis for a February 2008 episode of UFO Hunters, in which the authors appeared.

The authors have appeared frequently on UFO related TV and radio shows and have spoken at many conferences and events.

Third Version

A 20' disk shaped craft, resembling a convex lens with a dome on top crashed in a deserted sandy area approximately 30 miles west of Del Rio near border with Texas, partially embedding itself into the soft soil.

Radars in the U.S. detected the object while in the air long before the crash.

That gave the U.S. military a vast amount of time to maneuver.

The U.S. military were able to scramble a jet up in the air that followed the saucer to where it crashed, about 10 miles deep into Mexican territory.

A military pilot flying an F-94 USAF fighter jet nearby also saw the object.

The first action was to parachute a team into the crash site and stencil the area with red paint, and mark USAAF on the side of the saucer, so the U.S. could claim it as theirs in case the Mexican Army appeared.

Mexicans, including Mexican Army arrived at the site soon, but was ot allowed to seize the disk and was told that the object was an experimental American aircraft.

The craft site was immediately cordoned off by American troops.

The whole scene was accidentally filmed and the film was shown on American TV, but the U.S. Government interrupted the transmission.

A reported did manage to blurt out that the craft was being transported to California.

An entrance was found opened on the lower section of the disk.

A recovery team was then able to enter the object.

2 aliens, gray type with 4 clawed fingers, reptilian in appearance, and dressed in tight fitting silver suits were found onboard, both dead.

There were 3 chairs inside the cabin indicating that the 3rd member of the crew survived since a third body was never found.

The live entity evidently survived because he succeeded in putting on a helmet in time to open the door after impact and left the crash site levitating away from the area, using a portable antigravitational device, to some location in the desert where he was picked up by another alien craft.

Such devices were found in the cabin belonging to the rest of the crew, the aliens who died were evidently not able to use it in time.

Cause of death for the crew was established to have been rapid suffocation because of the intensive fire onboard.

Origin of the crashed disk and crew was established as Zeta-2 Reticuli system.

The cause of the crash was established as a technical malfunction and fire onboard, but the real cause was probably electromagnetic interference by U.S. radar facilities.

A recovery & transport team was dispatched from California immediately.

The disk was dragged to the U.S. by a caterpillar machine, leaving behind a large skid mark, which was covered up by the U.S. government by paying local Indians to plant the area over.

But it can still be seen by air.

The disk was moved to Muroc, now Edwards AFB and in the 1960s to the Tonopah Nevada facility, or Area 51, and in 1970 it was moved to the S-4 location.
